Saltash, Cornwall
We spent three fantastic nights in this beautiful cottage, overlooking the River Lynher. We arrived late on the Friday night after a long drive down from Cheshire after work, it was so inviting to arrive to a huge comfortable bed and a welcome hamper meaning we had milk, tea and coffee ready for the morning! On first glance, even in the dark, we could certainly see how stunning the views of the river were! The bedrooms were beautiful, a master bedroom with a king size bed, en-suite bathroom with a big bath and then a twin bedroom also with a en-suite. I can assure you, I slept like a baby, as did Rosie (in her own bed of course)
We had a nice lie in on Saturday morning before taking a good look around the cottage. Which was absolutely incredible, the decor in the lounge area was nautical themed with a modern twist. They had big rowing oars on the wall, anchors, and a telescope to look at the amazing views. Comfortable sofas and chairs and lovely dining table overlooking the river and a fully equipped kitchen with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The living room/kitchen area was on the 1st floor with the bedrooms on the ground floor which is a great idea for relaxing with the views. Also on the 1st floor was a roof terrace out the back with a seating area which was ideal for Rosie.
Rosie instantly felt right at home here and loved sitting on the windowsill watching the birds and ducks fly by. We had a great walk along the river front which we walked quite a few times as it was perfect for dogs.
On our first day we decided to visit a small beach called Portwrinkle beach which was around 30 minutes drive from the cottage. It was a bit overcast so this was an ideal beach for a walk. Rosie loved running up and down through the rock pools and splashing around. Then we found a little country pub on our way back to cottage for some dinner. We also stopped for some food from the supermarket for some snacks and breakfast the following day. There is a Lidl about 10 minutes drive from Lynher House, there's also a spar about 5 minutes if you wanted something slightly closer.
On the Sunday we decided to venture out a little further to see more of Cornwall so we visited the seaside town of Newquay, which was approximately 1 hour 10 minutes away, it was lovely here and very dog friendly, lots of surfers on the beach, loads of families and of course dogs! We played some ball games on the beach until the tide came in and then walked through the town and checked out some of the local businesses. I bought my dad a lovely Cornish tea and fudge gift set for Father's Day and we had to get a Cornish pasty for lunch! 'When in Rome'. We had a lovely day here and on the way back to the cottage we visited the town of Bodmin. After a walk around we stopped off for some dinner in a Portuguese restaurant, where we had chorizo cooked over hot flames in front of you. Followed by a cosy night in front of the log fire back at the cottage whilst we snuggled up and watched a film.
We checked out on the Monday morning and were very sad to be leaving Lynher house, it was such a special place. I will miss waking up with a cup of tea looking out over the river. And Rosie will miss her daily walks up and down the creek.
Before leaving Cornwall we went to check out another well known local seaside town East Looe which was only about 35 minutes from Saltash. This town was FULL of little tourist style shops all close together which was lovely, Rosie had a big run along the beach and we also had a go at some crabbing off the side of the marina.
We highly recommend Lynher House and would absolutely stay here again, we loved the location and how dog friendly it was, along with the gorgeous views (if I haven't already mentioned đ¤) go and check them out on classic cottages!
